Association Auguste François

Created in 1990 to make the consul Auguste François (1857-1935) better known, the eponymous Association boasts thirty years of intensive activity.  Publications, conferences, exhibitions (in France, China, Paraguay, Brazil), films, census of photographic and ethnographic collections, films resulting essentially from the missions of the consul in Asia (Annam and China) and South America (Paraguay), contributed to explain the donation that Mrs. Auguste François had made to the national museums: Musée Guimet, Musée de l'Homme, provincial museums.

The association itself has donated documents to the Centre des archives diplomatiques of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the Archives départementales du Morbihan and to the Cinémathèque de France.

The association therefore wished to make a donation as part of the 2022 musical instrument restoration campaign of the Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac Museum, which holds five hundred objects by Auguste François.
