The musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac 10 years on

Designing a Museum

What was the project for the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac? How was it implemented? What effect has it had on conservation and research? This symposium looks back on the achievements and the questions encountered over the course of its evolution.

This symposium will look back on the project for the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, examining the achievements and the questions encountered over the course of its evolution. It will question the relationships between the different exhibition areas, the role of research in relation to the museum's collections as well as how these are opened up to the public. We will endeavour to measure the effect of the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac in a contemporary landscape of museums of art and anthropology. While in no means exhaustive, this symposium will bring together important figures involved in the creation and construction of the museum in order to question and outline the face of the museum of tomorrow.
