This symposium aims to take a round trip between past and present, a historical perspective useful to the understanding of the relationships between humans and their environment.

Archaeological research conducted on societies living on coastlines from Prehistory to the Present Day highlight the processes of adaptation of populations to a changing climate and the way they have tapped into local resources by developing specific economic and even cultural systems. Moreover, coastal areas are currently under particular threat from climate change which is jeopardising archaeological heritage.
This symposium will alternate between conferences and round tables where different stakeholders in the research, heritage and management of coastlines can pool and share their knowledge and experience.
