Résumé
Indiqué sur la jaquette : Memory of my face focuses on Bambang Rudjito, a university-educated Indonesian man diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. The film, shot in both mental hospital in Java and the Jakarta slums, explores the 'globalized' features of Bambang' illness and recovery. These aspects involve western psychiatric diagnostics and pharmaceuticals, participation in an interfaith religious comunity, and his family's understanding and acceptance of what Bambang describes as a 'mental disability'. the film illustrates how Bambang's psuchotic symptoms are complexly interwiven with a globalized discours on politics, popular culture, and religion. In recovery, Bambang considers alternate ways of co*-existing with and adapting to his illness.
