Asia

Content

The section dedicated to Asia presents the popular and minority arts for a period essentially running from the 19th century to the present day.

The exhibition also presents costumes and personal ornaments spanning the area: Ainu dresses from Japan, Indian saris and Miao embroideries and jewellery from southern China. Themed spaces illustrate the religious arts, such as the Buddhism of south east Asia and the shamanism of Siberia, together with some artistic procedures such as ikat and lacquer.
