Résumé
Indiqué sur la jaquette : Artist, Ken Thaiday Snr takes us on a journey to Erub in Australia' Torres Strait. Ken Thaiday Snr makes mobilised artefacts, contemporising the culture of headdress making. Complex string and pulley sustemms enable parts of the headdress to move, a shark's jaw, a bird's wing or a Dari. The works can be grand in scale but composed in the greatest detail, with many small components. We join Ken in his studio in Canopy Artspace, Cairns and then travel to Erub in the North-Eastern corner of Australian territory, the home to Queensland's remotest community. A paradise of smiling faces, we are off to meet the Saltwater people of Torres Strait.
