International exhibitions in the garden gallery

Produced by the museum, or co-produced in collaboration with other institutions, the garden gallery exhibitions alternate between the investigation of great civilisations ; those of artistic production and community rituals ; the discovery of often little-known artistic
traditions ; and more cross-disciplinary themes.

“Thematic” exhibitions on the est mezzanine

"Thematic” exhibitions display works from the museum’s collections, bring together and juxtapose objects to clarify the visitor’s understanding of them, showcase the wealth of photographs in the collections and important pieces in the textiles collections, trace the origins of the collections by evoking the journeys of ethnologists and explorers and present recent research and archaeological studies.

Anthropological exhibitions on the west mezzanine

Anthropological exhibitions – the culmination of different approaches and interdisciplinary research – focus on universal issues, pose questions about the relationships between civilizations, objects and people and build bridges between art history and anthropology. Installed for plural months on the west mezzanine, they have been accompanied by gatherings and debates that help elucidate the content of the show. The exhibition catalogues bring together leading
experts in the various fields and act as reference tools.

The Musée du Quai Branly created Photoquai, a biennial exhibitions of pictures from all around the World, which alternates with the Month of Photography.

Photoquai aims to reveal to the Parisian and international public the images of photographers and artists from all over the world. This international festival now reveals today’s talents from all over the world.
