From an ethnic and linguistic point of view, Vietnam is diverse. Its culture reflects this diversity; it is varied and composed of the different influences that have accumulated over the centuries. From North to South, over more than three thousand kilometres, during this day visitors are invited to a real journey into the depth of Vietnamese culture.

History and memory in today’s Vietnam – encounter with Thierry Levasseur, PhD student at the Paris VII University.

Travelling in Vietnam today means almost always confronting its recent and less recent history. Through a few concrete examples, we will examine how historic events are remembered and transmitted in contemporary Vietnam. The promotion of the traces of the past, museography, places of remembrance, commemorations play an important part in Vietnamese national identity. This conference invites you on a voyage between past and present.
