Mixing genres, the Siestas are an elogy to slowness, spreading waves of peace across the dozing music-lovers.

on the programme every Sunday in July, from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm

Sunday 1st July

Plapla Pinky represents one of the most promising hopes for the French musical scene. Technical virtuosity. An unaffected taste that encompasses popular and academic music. Intransigence, perhaps even radicality; a pronounced taste for spectral music, stripped of all ornament in any case, blending broken analogue synthesisers and heavy bass.

Keith Fullerton Whitman is a key figure in the American experimental scene. Renowned international modular synthesiser specialist and composer obsessed by electronic music from its origins in the mid-20th century to its most contemporary incarnations, his work incorporates elements from practically every period: tape recorder, circuit bent devices, generators, analogue synthesisers... up to and including the oldest and rarest of recordings.

The Sublime Frequencies label, headed by Alan Bishop, is a laboratory for musical explorers and sound hunters. It is part of the large-scale evolution of world music. Sublime Frequencies compilations, such as the excellent "1970s Algerian Proto-Rai Underground" by Hicham Chadly, reveal the hidden audio faces of different cultures and often provide snapshots as artistic as they are ethnographic. The blend of tradition, kitsch, lo-fi, collage and field recording peculiar to the post-punk aesthetic of Sublime Frequencies, reaffirms non-Western music as a living force.

4.00 PM: Sam Tiba (Club Cheval) // 5.00 PM: Jean Nipon (Sound Pellegrino)

Sunday 15th July

A former student of ancient history, Sam Tiba has retained from his years of studies an obsession not with old stones but with forgotten languages, languages originating in an invisible world. When he mixes, he therefore attempts to create a kind of musical metalanguage. He seeks the wonder, the surprise and the thrill of the new. As a result, his influences range from techno through non-Western music to Bach's "Well-Tempered Clavier".

Jean Nipon, man with a thousand musical identities: 8-bit under the name of Teamtendo, breakcore as DJ Ai, techno with Karat, more breakbeat with Institubes, definitively eclectic with Régine, witty and elegant with L'Agence Tous Disques... It's tempting to reproach him for this variety, but ultimately it's an inestimable resource that works particularly well in the mix, perhaps even indispensable in examining the move from mainstream to underground culture, from the evident to the improbable.

For more than 40 years, Finders Keepers Records Records has been producing psychedelic, beat, moog, rock and exotic marvels from the four corners of the planet, but also French musical UFOs such as Jean-Pierre Massiera and Jean-Claude Vannier. With Andy Votel and Doug Shipton at the helm, Finders Keepers Records plunges into the past, revelling in its ultra-specialisation and providing its records with a value that is not simply financial but also societal.

Sunday 22 July

Marc Teissier du Cros is the head honcho at Record Makers, a label founded in 2000 with Stéphane Elfassi and the two members of Air. The Parisian has instigated various successful ventures, both in terms of esteem and commercial results. His artists (Sébastien Tellier, Turzi, Kavinski…) peddle a particular idea of France: uninhibited, sometimes brilliant, often freakish. Artists who, unconsciously, have profoundly affected the way in which music is produced in France today.

4.00 PM: NLF3 (Prohibited Records) // 5.00 PM: Arandel (In-Finé)

Sunday 29 July

With a discography that sounds like a firework display, lovingly created from the best of counter-culture (krautrock, cosmic jazz, afrobeat, past-rock, psychedelia, anti-folk...)NLF3 aren't resting on their laurels and admiring their work like some post-modern still life. Keeping the fire going, feeding it constantly with new sensations and discoveries, blowing on the embers without fear of any possible explosion, the trio is one of those rare collectives that personally invest in tomorrow so that the future might be worth listening to.

Arandel is intended to be neither a group nor a person, but rather an evocation, an idea made real, an incarnation. Its conceiver (because there is one) is above all a musician who prefers to remain in the shadows so that the music can occupy centre stage. In this way, Arandel represents the ideal playground for a humble artisan wishing to explore other avenues, with a project that can, from one instant to the next, break all the rules.
