Elena Izcue, Lima-Paris années 30
April 1st– July 14th 2008

exhibition curator: Natalia Majluf, Director of the Lima Arts Museum (Peru)
To coincide with the Paracas show, the Garden Gallery is hosting an exhibition devoted to the Peruvian artist Elena Izcue (1889–1970). Her pictorial and graphic works, executed in the 1930's, show a very strong influence from pre-Colombian textile art and especially that of Paracas, which is the source for her motifs. Putting on the two exhibitions in parallel encourages the visitor to cross over from one universe to the other, in either direction, within the space of the garden.
