The museum’s movie theatre is a venue for festivals, thematic movie screenings and regular programming.
Other than academic screenings, this season features <//strong>evening screenings of the Varan workshops that explore the realities of a country through the Jean Rouch style of documentary filmmaking.
Free entry with limited seating
Each trimester, the musée du quai Branly hosts an evening of movies created at the Varan workshops, a training center on documentary filmmaking. In a style directly inspired by Jean Rouch, Richard Leacock, Pierre Perrault and Fred Wiseman, the young field filmmakers of the Varan workshops learn to shoot everyday realities and to visually express cultural identity.
These screenings open a window on documentary film with movies made in other countries by young local filmmakers with Varan workshop team members by their side.
