2009 - 2010 season: various cinema cycles are being organised to coincide with the museum’s exhibition programme. Alongside these key events, the Varan Workshop screening evenings will be held every three months. The Africanists society and the Oceanists society are also programming regular events throughout the season.

Mexican cycle, November 2009

in conjunction with the Teotihuacan exhibition, the museum presents an overview of Mexican cinema and its current revival, in the context of the contemporary social problems in Mexico.

Indian cycle, 2010

to coincide with the events organised by the museum focusing on India (the Other masters of India exhibition, concerts and shows, tours and workshops), a programme of around fifteen screenings of the great classics of Indian cinema from the 1950s onwards.

The Varan Workshop screenings

documentary film school

A school for documentary filmmaking in the tradition of the direct cinema of Jean Rouch, Richard Leacock and Fred Wiseman, Varan proposes an evening of screenings every three months at the musée du quai Branly.

Africanist cinema

One Wednesday per month, the Africanists society presents a film, followed by a discussion.
