Résumé
So starts a man's travels from Lesotho to the gold mines in South Africa, one of 400 000 from all over Southern Africa who work underground in the deepest mines in the world. But the life there is different to what the imagines. The 'colour of gold' takes place in the levels and stopes underground, and the migrants'hostel. Here more than 8 000 men are enclosed in a coumpound area next to Shaft 4 of president Steyn Gold mine. In room no. 31 of block A the four protagonistq of the film live crowded with twelve others. In discussions they question why they are actually at the mine, and what that has done in destroying their family life. They talk about the dangers at work, their life in a single-sex hostel, about love and money, homosexuality and aids.
