disciplinary cannibalism

When History Meets Anthropology

Anne-Christine Taylor and Thierry Dufrêne

The time has long since past when objects from non-Western civilisations only found a place in museums, when museum displays presented “beautiful” objects. The boundaries between the two disciplines have become permeable: historians and anthropologists share their methods, approaches and perspectives.

This volume arose from the Colloquium in History of Art and Anthropology which took place on 21 to 23 June 2007 at the Musée du quai Branly.
