This photography biennial brings together non-Western photographs, whose resolutely artistic perspective is far removed from exotic visions or photojournalistic images. The general catalogue presents each of the exhibition's photographs, thereyby encapsulating the event, despite its ephemeral nature. This is both a beautiful book on contemporary photography and an indispensable professional tool for anyone interested in photography around the world.
Third Biennial exhibition of world images
Edited by Françoise Huguier
Launched in 2007 by the musée du quai Branly, this biennial allows the public to enjoy a stroll punctuated by contemporary, non-Western photographs along the banks of the Seine beside the Museum and in the Museum's garden.
Under the artistic direction of Françoise Huguier, this third edition brings together 46 photographers from each of the four continents – Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas. Particular importance is given to the presentation of the environment and to the photographers’ creative context.
More than just a simple directory of the event, the catalogue presents, in addition to a wide selection of the works displayed, a collection of theoretical essays providing an overview of present day international photography.
