This photography biennial brings together non-Western photographs, whose resolutely artistic perspective is far removed from exotic visions or photojournalistic images. General catalogue, memory of the event, index of all photographs displayed. This is both a beautiful book on contemporary photography and an indispensable professional tool for anyone interested in photography around the world.
Third Biennial exhibition of world images
Edited by Françoise Huguier
Launched in 2007 by the Musée du quai Branly, this biennial presents the public with a photographic journey along the banks of the Seine beside the museum and in the museum garden, dedicated to contemporary non-Western photography.
Under the artistic direction of Françoise Huguier, this third edition brings together 46 photographers from each of the four continents – Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas. Particular importance is given to the presentation of the environment and of the photographers’ creative context.
More than just a simple directory of the event, the catalogue presents, in addition to a wide selection of the works displayed, a collection of theoretical essays providing an overview of international photography today.
